Dawn on me

PM Dawn : The Bliss Album

It was 1993 I was only 15 years old and I called it ‘alternative rap’ on describing PM Dawn’s sophomore.
Only thing is, it wasn’t rap.
It wasn’t rnb and it wasn’t pop.
In hindsight it was my alternative to anything else given a title or genre in music or quite plainly getting radioplay.
Period.
In fact I’m willing to bet it was an album you’d mistakenly bought off the sheer strength of the chart topping single ‘Looking Through Patient Eyes’ or the also Boomerang soundtrack listed ‘Die Without You’, unhappy with what else awaited you.Prince B’s unorthodox poetic vernacular was unheard of, downright baffling and not of this earth but his
his vocals were a winner.
Not so easily digestible to a commercial mainstream rap or rnb audience , it was new territory for me and strangely I took quite a liking to this album.
Essentially I think it may have laid some ground work on me taking small steps to being more openminded to different genre’s of music if not various sounds.
